As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I’ve been doing the Weight Watchers diet for the past few months, and I’m actually down 30 lbs so far! I’ll be honest — I’d tried Weight Watchers previously in my life and wasn’t so impressed. But this iteration of their program, called Smart Points, has been a really good fit with my lifestyle.
The one big challenge I’ve run into is around wine. I love a nice glass of wine at the end of the evening, but there’s just no getting around that alcohol is a LOT of points.
Luckily, I found a nice little workaround that also happens to be delicious. Instead of drinking plain wine, try making your own low-calorie wine spritzer! It’s a perfect summer-style beverage, and you don’t even have to feel guilty for going for a second glass. (Or, let’s be honest…a third.)
In one pitcher, combine:
- 10 oz Riesling or other sweet white wine
- 10 oz Sprite Zero
- 10 oz peach-flavored zero-calorie soda
- 1 can (12 oz) grapefruit La Croix
Pour over ice and garnish with your favorite fruit — I like raspberries or orange slices, but anything you have on hand will work.
The result is four drinks worth two Smart Points each, or 8 Smart Points for the whole pitcher —a perfectly reasonable use of points and a nice way to end the day!
